Ramblings… June 16 2023

Hello friends

I’m off on a little getaway, our annual snow trip – I say snow but sometimes there isn’t any however this year promises to be different. Lots of the white stuff, they are saying but I’m just looking forward to warming myself by the fire, playing board games and trivia with the fam and of course reading! Just yesterday I realised I have not planned which books I’m taking with me, so I panicked because I am running out of books to read, so if anyone’s got any recommendations or reviews, shout out! Anyway, I scoured Amazon which guarantees next day delivery. Taylor Jenkins Reid’s After I Do, and Sophie Cousens’ Just Haven’t Met You Yet. Should get them today and I’m set.

What I’m Reading

Well, what I’ve read, really – a review of This Time Next Year by Sophie Cousens

This was a light romp, a romantic, sprightly comedy that came at a time when I had too much on my plate and needed a little escapism. Yes, it was somewhat contrived, - too many coincidences and a little predictable, but gosh, isn’t that what we sometimes want? Don’t we want to sometimes read just for the heck of it, to enjoy the pure distraction for entertainment value? Lots of funny laugh-out-loud moments too. So yes, I loved this book just for that reason. I liked the author’s writing very much but I’m always a little hesitant to be fully in – I was burned by Hoover - nevertheless, I’m embarking on my second Cousens novel in hopes I get something the same. A feel good rom com that you don’t need to take too seriously.

Oh and hey, follow me, share subscribe, read my blog, send me a line.

Until next time,

Rits.
