Book Review - Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens.

Definitely a page-turner if sometimes slightly predictable.

This book caught me immediately and I read it in four days. I felt for the plight of Kya, the abandoned child, the rejected girl, despising a society who could let one of their own down so badly, but I rejoiced in her successes, as little or as big as they were, even more because of that.

The intricate descriptions of the flora and fauna of her habitat were educational and interesting at first, but there was a little more than necessary towards the end, and I found myself skipping some of these parts. I also found some of the dialogue for someone who has not been formally educated, a little too sophisticated, but I went along with the premise that she had learned all these words and phrases from books.

The love story was beautiful and the relationships she had, as few as they were, were satisfying.

Overall, a lovely read.
